LCIF Newsletter March 2018

As many of you know, Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) is turning 50 years old this year. We are celebrating in many exciting ways, including birthday parties all over the world, and a series of fun and educational contests that you can enter at LCIF50.org.  We hope you’ll take part in the celebration.
Growth allows LCIF to make exciting changes, another thing to celebrate. LCIF continually moves forward to assist Lions in making a bigger impact on the world.
With that said, there are some new grant opportunities I hope you will be excited about. These new additions will allow Lions and Leos to expand their service work. Keep reading for details on the new grants, and visit LCIF.org for more information.
As you hear more about LCIF’s 50th anniversary, let’s reflect upon LCIF’s mission: “To support the efforts of Lions clubs and partners in serving communities locally and globally, giving hope and impacting lives through humanitarian service projects and grants.”
LCIF depends on the hearts of Lions. Keep up the great work! Let’s show the world what Lions and LCIF can do together.

Sincerely,

Chancellor Bob Corlew
Chairman, Lions Clubs International Foundation

LCIF’s US$30 Million Commitment to Gavi is Complete
At the Lions Clubs International 96th annual convention in Hamburg, Germany, LCIF made a commitment to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, to raise US$30 million to help protect tens of millions of children in the world’s poorest countries against measles.  If we could accomplish this ambitious goal, these funds would be matched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the UK Department for International Development. LCIF is pleased to announce that thanks to the generosity and service of Lions, this goal has been reached, bringing the total amount raised to US$60 million. Please visit LCIF’s blog to learn about the projected impact of this financial support.  Thank you, Lions.
