District Governor Clive 105C

My Fellow Lions, Lionesses, Leos and Partners,

Patsy and I have enjoyed fellowship with Lions and Lionesses from several Clubs over the past month, with visits to Pontefract Lioness, Brighouse and Hornsea Clubs, together with Charters at Garforth, Driffield and Bridlington. I also attended the first meeting of the proposed new Halifax Club, which Lion Amin Dada is continuing to work on in conjunction with Lions from Bradford Central. Together with 1st VDG George Morgan, who is acting Zone Chair, I also visited Barnsley Club.

A strong contingent from 105C attended the 36th and final Convention for 105NE at the Golden Lion in Northallerton, which was preceded by a meeting of the merger team and a meeting of the Cabinet for 105NE. Arrangements for the new District 105N continue apace and DGE Andrew Kerr Sutherland will be attending our Convention in February to provide an insight into how he and his team plan on supporting Clubs throughout the new District, starting in July
2019. In addition, Lion Andrew is aiming to attend a Zone meeting near you during the second half of the Lionistic year, so this will provide a great opportunity for you to meet him and influence his plans for 2019/20.

On the subject of Convention, elsewhere in this edition is the booking form and I hope lots of you will be joining us to say farewell to District 105C. Of course, the District will continue to support Clubs for a further 4 months after Convention, but I see the functions at the Holiday Inn, Doncaster as being a great opportunity to celebrate past achievements. Our Convention Committee, ably lead by Lion President Brian Ross, has put a lot of thought into the programme and the entertainment, so I am confident we will all have a great time. Patsy and I look forward to seeing Members and their partners from every Club in the District at this event.
In this lead-up to the festive period,

Patsy and I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous 2019. We stopped sending Christmas cards several years ago, preferring instead to make a donation to charity in lieu of the cost of cards and the postage. This year, we will make a personal donation to Patsy’s appeal in favour of Candlelighters and the Batley Care & Drop-in Centre.

Yours in Lionism

Lion Clive Barwell
