DG David’s December dialogue

Fellow Lions, Lionesses and Partners,

I hope that you all saw a copy of the first joint 105C Newsletter/ NE Spotlight when it came out at the beginning of November, I hope that you liked what you saw. Thank you very much to Lion George Morgan for taking on the task of being Editor for this joint initiative it is very much appreciated. Please can I remind Club President’s and Club Secretary’s that the monthly newsletter is now only sent to them at Club level due to GDPR restrictions and it is up to
Club officers to forward copies on to their members either by forwarding on by email or by printing out copies for members who have no email access.

This last month has had two very different highlights for Christine and myself, the first being given the opportunity to attend and take part in the Remembrance Sunday events at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, it was a very moving occasion especially being involved in the march past. As a very good number of you have commented the party representing MD105 led by our Council Chairman was shown live on television. The day before was equally moving in that we had been lucky enough to also obtain and attend the Festival of Remembrance Service at the Royal Albert Hall. It was not until earlier this year that we became aware that there is also a full afternoon performance of the Festival of Remembrance with tickets available for the general public to purchase from 9am on the 1st October, Christine and I can certainly recommend attendance.

The second highlight of the month was of course our District Convention, which this year
was organised by the Lions of the Thirsk & Northallerton in the market town of Northallerton. This was the 36th and the last District Convention for 105NE. Very grateful thanks to all who attended all or part of the Convention it was very much appreciated. The organisation of the weekend by the Thirsk & Northallerton Club was absolutely brilliant which included every possible attention to detail, very good hotel Convention facilities a Hotel Staff who could not have been more helpful, all helped by a central town location and brilliant sunny weather for November. Very grateful thanks to allmembers of the District Convention Committee led by Club President and Convention Committee Chairman Margaret Wells. They are only a small club with 10 members and every member played their part. Very well done and many Congratulations on a very good job very well done.

It is a very busy time of the year for all clubs whether it is being out with your Christmas Sleigh
bringing delight to the young and elderly alike, entertaining the elderly to Christmas Lunches, selling Christmas Trees or financing elderly persons and children’s Christmas celebrations. Thank you for all that you are doing for your local community as we lead up to Christmas and a very special thank you to those Lions who give up part of their Christmas Day to serve in their local community
As this will be the last David’s dialogue before Christmas may I take this opportunity on behalf of Christine and myself to wish you and your families a very Happy Christmas and a very peaceful New Year?

If you have articles for the new combined newsletter, please submit articles to Lion George Morgan gmorgan343@btinternet.com by the 21st December. for the January issue by the 24th December.

Very grateful thanks to those clubs who have already sent articles and photographs to Lion George.

Enjoy your Lionism
