Woodland Trust

In fond memory of Lion’s Jack Angus, Sandra Worley and Charles Pearson – who have all sadly passed to higher services.

Holderness Lions have purchased Tree’s through The Woodland Trust for their family’s.

The land where the tree’s are planted, was acquired by the trust in October 1997, for the Woods on your Dootstep project, on a 399 year lease from Hull City Council, for a peppercorn rent.
The wood is called OPPY WOOD and is situated just outside the villige of Cottingham, on the fringe of Orchard Park. The wood has 2 entrance points: 1) at the southern western corner of the site, from Middle Dyke Lane, 2) at the northeastern corner from Orchard Park Road.
The site was named OPPY WOODS after the hundreds of East Yorkshire troops who sadly lost their lives in the 1917 battle for OPPY WOOD in France during the first World War.

Holderness Lions supplied Hawthorn Bushes in 2012, to fill gaps in hedges, in Preston.
